Educational Opportunities
As the largest academic health sciences network in Atlantic Canada, Nova Scotia Health is committed to building capacity in our healthcare workforce by supporting a culture of lifelong learning and professional development across all areas of health. IPPL offers multiple programs and learning opportunities to support staff.
All regulated employees at NSH attend Professional Practice Orientation. This is a crucial part of onboarding for new employees at Nova Scotia Health. Establishing your career as a health professional within a professional practice frame will provide the support you need as you consolidate your practice as a health care professional, and provide person-centred care in a safe, professional manner.
For nurses, the transition to practice program onboards new nursing graduates into Nova Scotia Health with a streamlined and supportive recruitment and retention process. This includes preceptor and mentor support for new graduates to successfully transition into their role. Evening and weekend support in acute care, and virtual and telemonitoring supports in rural settings are in the process of being built into the program.
