IPPL Support

The Interprofessional Practice and Learning Portfolio is comprised of four Zonal Programs (Central, Eastern, Northern, Western), and Provincial Programs including the Violence Prevention Program, Workforce Planning, Community and Academic Partnerships, and Nursing Enhancement Strategies.

The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team facilitates and advances person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies and programs that are designed provincially and implemented locally to enhance collaborative learning and practice. They take a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities. The team is comprised of a Senior Directors, Directors, Professional Practice Leaders, Practice Educators, Simulation Specialists, Instructors, Administrators and Support Staff.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE SUPPORT TEAM

Professional Practice Leaders (PPL) facilitates and advances excellence in quality person centred care and practice through the integration of a variety of services aimed at supporting and enhancing professional practice. The PPL takes a collaborative leadership role in fostering a culture of learning with a focus on clinical practice, clinical leadership, inter/intra professional collaboration and the development, implementation and maintenance of a model for inter/intra professional practice and standards consistent with health professional regulatory bodies and associations. The PPL serves as a consultant to the organization with respect to professional practice issues at the individual, team, program and system level. The PPL works with all members of the interprofessional team including physicians to promote evidence based practice, reflecting best practices and a culture of person centered care. The PPL supports all health care disciplines.

CLINICAL EDUCATION SUPPORT

The IPPL team include various Practice Educator roles such as Clinical Nurse Educators, Paramedic Educators, Professional Practice Coordinators, MDR Educators and Interprofessional Educators. These team members have clinical expertise and support specific teams and care environments. Practice Educators may act as a consultant, researcher, facilitator, change agent, and leader. They foster a culture of learning to build capacity and support safe practice, advances professional practice through the development and implementation of transition to practice programs and ongoing practice and professional development that integrates a learner centered approach. They are responsible for developing, planning, executing, and evaluating learning experiences.
