Education Programs - Eastern Zone

Our programs are designed to support employees who are starting or transitioning into new practice settings or roles through acquisition and application of knowledge and skills. Our programs are designed and facilitated by members of our team using adult learning methods and principles and drawing on evidence and best practices.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE ORIENTATION

This session introduces regulated health care professionals to overarching principles, concepts and resources that support an understanding of professional practice within NSH; regardless of designation, geographical location, or practice setting they will be working within. The goal is to welcome and socialize these individuals to professional practice within the organization.
Professional Practice Orientation is followed by a point of care/unit-based preceptorship and the development of the new employee learning and development plan with the Health Service Manager (HSM), Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE)/Professional Practice Coordinator (PPC), in addition to other clinical leaders and is meant to align and complement the above components to support your area’s transition to practice of new health professionals.

NEW MANAGER SERIES

Purpose: IPP&L Eastern Zone launched a New Managers Development Series in the fall of 2022 to support new managers transitioning into their role. Our executive leadership team has endorsement this program to ensure dedicated time is available for leaders to focus on their growth and development.
The four-part series commences with a session designed to assist new clinical leaders in the development of core skills and approaches required of leaders in clinical practice environments. This is followed by three sessions designed to assist new leaders in the application of these skills and approaches in holding effective practice and performance conversations. We request that participants commit to all four parts of the sessions.

Audience: This mandatory four-part series is specifically designed for novice Health Service Managers and Clinical Operation Supervisors in their first twelve months of the role. Numbers are limited.
